DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Teaching interests: History and Politics of South Asia, with special
reference to India and Bangladesh.

Research interests: Islamic developments in South Asia with special
reference to the Bengali-speaking regions of India and Bangladesh.
Bengali language, culture, religion, with particular reference to
Hindu-Muslim syncretistic and inclusive, as well as separatist and
exclusive developments, are major research interests. The broader 
issues of Islamization and Muslim ethnicity in the contexts of South, 
and even Southeast Asia, are areas of growing interests.
