Description of work:
Field: Modern Indian History and Politics

Research: Oral History, Elections, Women's politics, Peasant movements and
nationalism, and early Communist Party.  Primary Research in Bihar, but
interested in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.  Use Hindi and Maithili
language in research and am interested in political songs, village art and
agrarian culture. 

Teaching: Medieval, Early Modern, and Modern South Asia, Women's History,
International Studies
