Key words: Democracy, development, Nepal, Tharu, tarai, janajati, 
ethnic movements, communism, NGOs.

I am currently heading a project on the inclusion of Tarai's (lowland) 
ethnic groups in the formation of the new democratic state of Nepal. 
Janajati politics as well as Tharu studies are main elements. Cooperating 
partner in Nepal is Prof. Ganesh Man Gurung, CINAS, Tribhuvan Univ. 
Kathmandu. We employ recently graduated students (MAs) in project. The 
project is purely research and is funded by The Norwegian Research Council.

Earlier I have worked on mapping NGO relations in Nepal. Individuals
