Research interests:  language policy and language conflict in India and 
Nepal, from a political science perspective.  I am currently working on 
two pieces: an analysis of how the new emerging ethnolinguistic policy in
Nepal is affecting ethnic identity; and a comparison of language politics 
in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Bihar since 1980 in regard to the issue of 
officializing Urdu and the campaign against English.
