Indian Languages and Literatures, especially Hindi-Urdu poetry, drama and
poetic drama.  Indian Cinema, Hindi-Urdu film industry history and
development.  Classical and semi- classical musical genres, including
ghazal, qawwali. 

Current research: Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Century Urdu Theater and
the Development of Urdu Poetic Drama.
