Description of work:

Born in Rajasthan in 1958, D.K. Taknet had a bright academic career, 
obtained first class Master's degree, secured first position in M.Phil. 
examination in Business Administration, and had earned the Degree of 
Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Rajasthan on a published book. 
Dr. D.K. Taknet is a widely read academician and a known business writer, 
who has taught more than 15 years, in various institutions.  He has 
completed many critical and creative research studies and has been awarded 
scholarships and fellowships by several premier institutions like the 
University Grants Commission, New Delhi and the Indian Council of Social 
Sciences Research, Ministry of Human Resource, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

His research articles, more than 50, have been published in the leading 
newspapers, magazines and journals in India and abroad. Dr. Taknet has 
travelled extensively in Europe, France, USA, Canada, the former USSR 
countries and the Far-East and had participated in several international 
seminars, conferences, symposia etc. and presented 15 research papers. He 
has authored five widely appreciated and award winning books like 
Industrial Entrepreneurship of Shekhawati Marwaris, 1986, Marwari Samaj, 
1989, Marwari Samaj Aur Braj Mohan Birla, 1993, B.M. Birla - A Great 
Visionary, 1996, The Heritage of Indian Tea, 2002.

These publications have been reviewed and serialized by the national 
newspapers, magazines and journals. These books have won acclaim from many 
scholars like Dr. Man Mohan Singh, the present Prime Minister of India, 
Mr. P.V. Narsimha Rao and Mr. A.B. Vajpayee, the former Prime Ministers of 
India, Mr. P. Chidambaram, Union Minister of Finance, Dr. L.K. Jha, Prof. 
A.M. Khusaro, Dr. C.H. Hanumantha Rao, Dr. Raja J. Chelliah and Dr. Abid 
Hussain.

Being a prolific writer and a business historian, Dr. Taknet enjoys good 
relationship with Indian corporates and knows Indian business intimately 
from the inside and has first hand knowledge about it. He has served at 
honorary capacity on several senior managerial positions in the corporate 
world.  His area of specializations is entrepreneurship, human resources 
and corporate image. Dr. Taknet assisted government bodies to organize 
conferences on non-resident Indians and Rajasthanis. His efforts have been 
appreciated by the government authorities to organize academic 
conferences, symposia etc. His experience is quite helpful in the 
corporate-academic partnership and his research inputs could be of great 
value for the Indian corporates.

Dr. Taknet is actively associated with several professional and social 
organisations of great repute. He is Life Member of the All India 
Management Association, New Delhi; the Indian Institute of Public 
Administration, New Delhi; the Indian Economic Association, Kolkatta; the 
Indian Commerce Association, New Delhi; the International Institute of 
Development Studies, Kolkatta; the Journal of Commerce, New Delhi; the 
IIME, Jaipur; the Indian Red Cross Society, New Delhi and the Youth 
Hostels Association of India, New Delhi. Dr. Taknet is the life member of 
the Rambagh Golf Club, Jaipur; the Rajasthan Polo Club, Jaipur and the 
Pinkcity Press Club, Jaipur. He has been awarded many certificates by 
various educational, social and government institutions for social and 
community welfare. The hon'ble President of India has awarded him with the 
President Award. Currently Dr. Taknet is working upon a pictorial book on 
Rajasthan and the Indian business and he is a Director of the IIME, 
Jaipur, a well known academic and research institute of a national repute.
