description of work:
Current research focussing on the Jharkhand movement, issues of
sub-nationalism, autonomous councils, and the Fifth/Sixth Schedule of the
Indian Constitution.  Interested also in the construction of the word
"tribe" as a colonial construct, and the continuation of this term in
post-colonial India.  Diaspora interests dealing with cross-cultural
relationships, and issues of indentity with the second generation Indians
living in the diaspora.
