Description of work:
Research focusses on the perceptions and attitudes of the British in India
pre-independence, but primarily between 1919 and 1922. I trace the
development of Indian nationalism, particularly of a national identity
among the Muslim community in India through the eyes of the British Raj.
The title of my thesis is: 'The reactions of the British central
administration in India to the development of an Indian national identity
among the Muslim community, 1919-1922'.
