Dr. Brian Mahan

Brian Mahan is past director of the Program in Religious Education at Candler School of Theology and a former member of the faculty of the Graduate Division of Religion at Emory University in Atlanta. Brian holds a doctorate from the University of Chicago and is the author of "Forgetting Ourselves on Purpose: Vocation and the Ethics of Ambition" (Jossey-Bass, 2002) and a coauthor of "Awakening Youth Discipleship: Christian Resistance in a Consumer Culture" (Cascade Books, 2008). During his stay as Scholar in Residence at the Burke Library he will be completing a manuscript tentatively entitled "Sanity and Sainthood: William James as Pastoral Philosopher."
