The Friends of The Burke Library Host Lecture on the Future of Theological Libraries
John Weaver to Speak November 12
The Friends of Burke Library are pleased to present Dr. John B. Weaver, Director of the Burke Theological Library, lecturing on "Glocal Futures: The Burke Library and Theologies of New York City." The event will take place on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at the Social Hall, Union Theological Seminary (3041 Broadway at 121st St.) and is free and open to the public.
Can theological research libraries survive in an era of declining membership among mainline Protestant churches, and in this “late age of print?” The special collections and archives of The Burke Theological Library offer a valuable historical perspective on the possible futures of theological libraries, and especially the potential importance of The Burke Library amid the religious changes currently transforming New York City.
