American FactFinder is an Internet site which allows users to retrieve data from the 2000 Census. It is the largest and most comprehensive collection of U.S. Census data on the Internet.
Bank for International Settlements
Access various publications of the BIS online, such as Bank statistics on external debt, Central Bank Survey of Foreign Exchange and Derivatives Market Activity, and many more.
Bureau of Economic Analysis
Current and historical economic data, news releases, publications, etc.
Bureau of Labor Statistics
A bureau within the U.S. Department of Labor. This site includes time series data and information on the labor force in America. Links to multiple news releases, including Consumer Price Indexes, Producer Price Indexes, as well as other publications such as the Occupational Outlook Handbook.
Columbia University's Electronic Data Service
The Columbia Electronic Data Service (EDS) offers the University community access to a wide variety of numerical data resources and related services. Staff consultants are available to help university members select the appropriate data for their needs and to guide students and researchers through the process of extracting and moving the data to their own facilities. EDS, located in 215 Lehman Library, is a joint operation of Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT) and the Libraries. Access the EDS DataGate. Economic Statistics Briefing Room
"The purpose of this service is to provide easy access to current Federal economic indicators. It provides links to information produced by a number of Federal agencies. All of the information included in the Economic Statistics Briefing Room is maintained and updated by the statistical units of those agencies. All the estimates for the indicators presented in the Federal Statistics Briefing Rooms are the most currently available values. "
Electronic Statistics Handbook
"StatSoft Inc. provides this electronic textbook on the use of statistics in laboratory research, business, social sciences, datamining, and engineering, among other fields. Its 24 sections deal with topics such as ANOVA/MANOVA, experimental design, process analysis, and survival/failure time analysis. There is also a detailed glossary and extensive bibliography.
Energy-Related Resources
This site includes statistics on petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, etc. It also has the full text of the Annual Energy Outlook and the International Energy Outlook. From the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Fair Model
From Yale, this site allows the user to do macroeconomic modeling. "This site brings the power of large scale macroeconometric analysis to anyone with access to the internet. It is a resource for business forecasters, government policy analysts, macroeconomic researchers, teachers, and students."
FedStats
Links to key statistics available from more than 70 Federal agencies, arranged alphabetically by topic, with keyword search capability.
FedWorld
This site provides an entry way to access U.S. Government information online. In the future, this site expects to add U.S.Government gopher and FTP servers. Access to reports by Industry number (through the Bureau of the Census at the Department of Commerce), Census of Population and Housing (also through the Bureau of the Census at the Department of Commerce), and other U.S. economic data.
FRASER: Federal Reserve Archival System for Economic Research
When used in connection with data contained in FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data), FRASERallows the researcher to create uninterrupted data series by accessing sources previously available only in printed form and those currently available electronically (on FRED]. In addition, the ability to retrieve series presented in preliminary, revised, and final releases provides a powerful tool in recreating and evaluating previous economic research and policy.
FRED: Federal Reserve Economic Data
FRED provides historical U.S. economic and financial data, including daily U.S. interest rates, monetary and business indicators and exchange rates. From the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. There is also a link to home pages of other Federal Reserve district banks.
The Government Information Sharing Project
The Government Information Sharing Project from Oregon State University includes online access to the Regional Economic Information System, the 1992 Economic Census, U.S. Imports/Exports History: 1991-1995, the Consolidated Federal Funds Report: 1986-95, and much more. All components are searchable.

International Monetary Fund's Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board
The International Monetary Fund's Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board (DSBB) provides links to key information about economic and financial data disseminated by member countries that subscribe to the IMF's Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS). The DSBB provides information prepared by countries in support of their observance of the IMF's Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS).
IRS TaxStats
Iinformation about the financial composition of individuals, business taxpayers, tax exempt organizations and more. This data has been sampled from all kinds of returns and sorted in lots of interesting ways.

Purchasing Power Profiles (from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee)
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Employment and Training Institute provides comparison data on purchasing power, business activity, and workforce density for all census tracts, residential ZIP codes, and the 100 largest metro areas in the U.S. The profiles are designed to help cities, companies, developers, small business owners, and community organizations assess the advantages of urban density for underserved city neighborhoods.

Stat-USA Service restricted to members of the Columbia community
Columbia University Libraries subscribes to this site. The site provides access to a variety of government statistical information. Includes information from the National Trade Data Bank compact disc, the current Economic Bulletin Board (also found at the University of Michigan site listed above), Global Business Procurement Opportunities (including the Commerce Business Daily and the Trade Opportunity Leads), and the Bureau of Economic Analysis - (including information not found at their website). Also contains press releases from the government for various statistical figures.
Trends in Developing Economies
Trends in Developing Economies (TIDE) provides brief reports on most of the World Bank's borrowing countries. This compendium of individual country economic trends complements the World Bank's World Development Report, which looks at major global and regional economic trends and their implications for the future prospects of the developing economies. TIDE digests information from national sources and adds staff commentary to explain recent developments.
