Sources for Socio-Demographic Resources

These are resources that report on population counts and characteristics of the population.

  • U.S. Census Bureau Data
    • American FactFinder under "Getting Detailed Tables" choose either:
      • Decennial Census 1990, 2000
        data for all census geographies and variables
      • American Community Survey (ACS) annual reports
        -1 year period estimates starting in 2005
        -3 year period estimates starting with 2007
        -reported using county & PUMA Census 2000 boundaries
    • CD/DVD Census Products (in Data Apps folder on DSSC workstations)
      • Census 2000 Allocate
        all variables, all census geographies
        good for large downloads or for population sub-groups;
        for data by detailed race or ancestry must visit EDS
