  • Derwent Innovations Index -- Coverage 1963 to the present.

    The world's most comprehensive database of international patent information from more than 40 patent-issuing authorities with added value to the patent literature including Descriptive Titles, Abstracts, Patent Family, Derwent Class Codes, Derwent Manual Codes, and Company Codes. Covers over 10 million basic inventions and 20 million patents.

    Full bibliographic patent records include Abstracts, Images (if available), Cited patents, Cited article references (non-patent references) from research journals available through the Web of Science, and Citing patents - all patents that have cited the source patents.


  • U.S. Patent & Trademark Office -- Full-Text Database includes all US patents from 1976 to the present.

    The Patent Full-Page Image Database (with each patent's images linked from that patent's full-text display) includes all US patents from patent X1 issued in 1790 to the present.


  • Delphion Patents(Formerly patent database from IBM)--Full text & images; free searching, full-text available for fee.
    Database Coverage


  • European Patents Office -- The worldwide database for patent information from over 70 different countries and regions. Date coverage varies by countries, British patents going back to 1920. Full text & images.


  • Micropatents Patent Server


  • Korean Patent Search -- Registered Korean patents from 1979-1998. SGML plugin is required to view abstracts & drawings, which is downloadable at this site under "Introduction".
