Studies of Northwestern University has as its focus assessment of
the impact of communications technologies and public policies,
bringing together policymakers, industry officials, academics, the
press, and the public. The Program has sponsors projects related
to domestic and international communications policymaking.

Review
- CJR reviews all that pertains to the profession. The home page
of the bimonthly publication provides table of contents and
subscription information and a link to the Pulitzer Prizes home
page.
- Freedom Forum
- Formerly the Gannett Foundation, this is "a nonpartisan,
international foundation dedicated to free press, free speech and
free spirit for all people."
- Media
Literacy Online Project, from the University of Oregon College
of Education.
- This "comprehensive media literacy resource
collection" is aimed at people "concerned with the
influence of media in the lives of children and youth."
- Nieman
Foundation
- This is the home page of the Nieman Foundation at Harvard
University. It provides information (table of contents,
subscription, etc.) on the Nieman Reports, their
quarterly publication devoted to raising journalistic standards,
and information about the Foundation's activities.
- Pew Center for Civic
Journalism
- Born of the Pew Charitable Trusts' "Renewing our
Democratic Heart" initiative, the Center seeks to stimulate
citizen involvement in community issues. Civic Catalyst,
the Center's newsletter is available here.
- Poynter Institute for Media
Studies
- The Poynter Institute is a school dedicated to teaching and
inspiring journalists and media leaders. This site provides useful
resources, including the
Links to the News
site, which collects useful Internet links on timely topics.
Another feature of the site is Jim Romenesko's
MediaNews,
formerly known as Mediagossip.com, which compiles media-related
news stories from across the World Wide Web.
- Project for Excellence in
Journalism
- "An initiative by journalists from all media to clarify
and raise the standards of American journalism." The project
is affiliated with Columbia University
Graduate School of
Journalism.
- Virtual Media Resources
- Virtual Media Resources is a consulting firm serving up market
data on media research and demographics. This site provides
demographic and research data, including the Newsweek
Media Research Index.
