WORKING WITH REFERENCE MATERIALS

Reference materials such as subject dictionaries and encyclopedias, language dictionaries, biographical dictionaries and bibliographies can provide excellent starting points as you explore a new topic.  These materials can also supplement research with important background information and serve as shortcuts to finding books and articles.

Reference sources are found in the Reference Departments of the campus libraries.  Some items may be in the Latin American Studies Reading Room, Butler 503, and some material may be in the regular collections in the campus libraries.

These two guides outline major sources, in Latin American Studies, and in Language and Literature.
