FRANK ALTSCHUL PRESS CLIPPING COLLECTION (D Shelves)
218 uniform folio loose-leaf binders of press clippings dating from the mid-1930s through the early 1970s. The most important and largest part of the collection concerns the mid-1960s. Material is drawn from national newspapers and periodicals.
The subject matter is divided into four parts: National Affairs (94vols.); International Affairs -- Subject (43 vols.); International Affairs -- Geographical (66 vols.); United Nations Affairs (15 vols.)
Mr. Altschul, the brother of Edith Altschul Lehman, was a senior partner of Lazard Freres, a benefactor and key member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a keen observer of domestic and international politics. This clipping collection, intended as a private reference source, reflects Mr. Altschul's varied interests.
The collection was donated to the Herbert H. Lehman Papers in 1978.
