An independent not-for-profit organization created in 1995 and partially supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that seeks to provide a reliable and comprehensive archive of important scholarly journals. Individual JSTOR journals are listed below with their separate links. Bryn Mawr Classical Review (Online). -- Bryn Mawr, PA : Bryn Mawr College, 1990-.

The BMCR archives comprise several hundred `article' files, each with a serial number file name of less than eight characters, consisting of numerals and hyphens. Each designates the volume, issue, and number of the contents: so 3-4-6 is the sixth item in the fourth issue of volume 3. (Vol. 1, 1990; vol. 2, 1991; vol. 3, 1992.) The individual article files are organized in `volume' directories, so for example, 3-4-6 and all other Vol. 1 articles are in v3. In addition the file INDEX contains a current list of all files in serial number order, identifying author and title of book reviewed and author of review.

Gnomon: Bibliographische Datenbank

This site provides tables of contents for the journals, Gnomon and Zeitschrift für Papyrologie und Epigraphik, and the ability to search the Gnomon bibliographic database, which is also published as a CD-ROM annually - the searching capabilities of the online version are less impressive, but the information is all there.

The JMH is devoted exclusively to the history of Europe in the Middle Ages, broadly defined as covering the centuries from the fall of the Roman empire to the Renaissance. Online coverage is for the complete run, from 1975 to the present.
