Addicts Who Survived

Three hundred hours of tape recorded interviews (reel to reel) collected by David Courtwright, Herman Joseph and Don Des Jarlais for their work, Addicts Who Survived: An Oral History of Narcotic Addiction in America, 1923-1965. Most of the interviews were conducted with long term heroin addicts, many of them enrolled in methadone programs. This collection also includes interviews with medical doctors, social workers and law enforcement officials concerned with heroin addiction. No transcripts available.
