Self Service Copying
Make copies from periodicals and newspapers by using a FLEX copy card at the copier in the Copy Room. See the PMRR Floorplan.
Purchase a copy card or add value to a card in Room 2L1 on the 2nd Floor. Copies cost $0.10 per page ($0.20 for an 11 x17 sheet).
Make copies from microfilm or fiche with the microform reader/printers by using a FLEX copy card. Copies cost $0.10 per page. Staff is present to assist with the machines.
Copies of Microfilm. Request from the Preservation Department at Butler Library. This service is only applicable to microfilm made by Columbia University. Obtain copies of entire reels of microfilm, or printouts of whole titles/volumes, and also digital images of whole titles/volumes. Restrictions apply. Scanning of Microfilm/Fiche. It is possible to scan portions of film or fiche and then download the images to a CD, DVD, or flash drive. This can be done in PMRR or Electronic Text Service (ETS, 305 Butler). Patrons who wish to use the ETS machine will be allowed to check out microfilm or microfiche in exchange for a photo ID.
Machine Assistance
Staff is present at all times to assist patrons with the microform reader/printers, copier, and the public terminals.
Reference Assistance
PMRR staff is trained to answer basic reference questions related to the Periodicals and Microforms Collections in Butler Library. All other questions should be directed to a reference librarian.
