The Columbia University Libraries has received a gift from the Ukrainian Studies Fund to support the acquisition of Ukrainian collections in Columbia University Libraries. Made possible by the generous gift of Oxana and Natalia Daria Horodecka, the Maria and Illa Horodeckyj Gift Fund will support the acquisition of Ukrainian materials, focusing on materials on the Lemko region and Lemko culture. Illa Horodeckyj was an alumnus of Columbia University and, together with his wife Maria, a long time supporter of the study of Ukrainian culture in the United States.
The gift, presented by Roman Procyk, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Studies Fund to University Librarian Jim Neal and Librarian for Russian, Eurasian and East European Studies Jared Ingersoll, will be crucial to the Libraries' efforts to address the needs of a growing Ukrainian studies program in the coming years.
