Ethnologue Database (Summer Institute of Linguistics)
This is a massive compilation of information about the languages of the world, corresponding to the printed publication, Ethnologue: Languages
of the world. Fourteenth edition, Barbara F. Grimes, ed. 2000. The volume contains information on some 6,800 languages spoken in the world,
including alternate names, number of speakers, location, dialects, linguistic affiliation, and other sociolinguistic and demographic data.

Newari Lexicon
The Newari Lexicon is compiled from a group of Nepalese manuscripts of a single text, the Amarakosa. The manuscripts date from the end of the
fourteenth to the early nineteenth centruries. Each manuscript contains the text of the Amarakosa, a popular Sanskrit thesaurus written in verse,
with notes in Newari containing brief Newari glosses of each group of Sanskrit synonyms. The Newari Lexicon is a compilation of words from the Newari
glosses, with reference to the original Sanskrit and to English glosses.

UCLA Language Materials Project
"Learning resources for less commonly taught languages of the world." Site accesses a large annotated bibliographic database of language
materials for a large number of languages. Search interface allows you to choose the language, the type of material (dictionary, grammar, phrasebook,
etc.), and the level, and then produces detailed annotated bibliographies of the results. South Asian languages in the database include Assamese,
Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Pashto, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Virtual Picture Album: India
This is part of the Virtual Picture Album project, of the University of Minnesota's Center
for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition. It is an archive of digitized photographs and drawings, accompanied by useful descriptions and
suggestions for ways teachers can incorporate these pictures into in-class and out-of-class activities. Site also includes other language-teaching
resources, such as sample lessons using the VPA, etc.
