Decennial Census Information
1980 Census -- Detailed Holdings

The final reports of the 1980 Census were published in three series: one for Population, one for Housing, and one for Population and Housing. The U.S. Government Documents collection in Lehman Library has both microfiche and printed copies of the 1980 Census. The microfiche copy is complete, while the printed reports are essentially complete, with the exception of some of the tract maps, as indicated below.

Volume I. Characteristics of the Population, Chapter A: Number of Inhabitants.

This chapter consists of separate reports for the U.S., each of the 50 States and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, and Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands Excluding the Northern Mariana Islands. Each report presents data on population size, land area, and number of incorporated and census designated places, by SMSA, county, city and inside-outside metropolitan areas and central cities. Many tables contain data showing trends from earlier censuses.

Many tables contain data showing trends from earlier censuses.

Each report presents data on nativity, state or country of birth, citizenship and year of immigration for the foreign born population, language, ancestry, fertility, family compensation, type of group quarters, marital history, residence in 1975, journey to work, school enrollment, years of school completed, disability, veteran status, labor force status, occupation, industry, class of worker, labor force status in 1979, income in 1979, and poverty status in 1979, by SMSA, county, incorporated and other place, and inside-outside metropolitan areas and central cities.
