CLIO Tips: Finding Archives, Manuscripts, and Oral History Collections
(NEW YORK, January 10, 2008) CLIO contains
records for cataloged archival collections, personal papers, architectural drawings,
and oral history transcripts. These records—for collections housed in Avery,
Barnard, Burke, Health Sciences, Oral History, and the Rare Book and Manuscript
Library—can be found in the results of any CLIO search.
To limit a search to these collections, use a keyword search and the Archival
Collections Quick Limit.

Results can be sorted by author/creator, date (earliest first or last).
Although the "Brief View" contains considerable information, click
the "Full View" to see a narrative description of the collection,
or follow the "finding aid" link to see an even more extensive description.

Finding Aids
Although CLIO records contain some links to online findings aids, most are in
the process of being linked. If you do not see an online finding aid in CLIO,
or if you wish to browse our archives collections by repository, use the Archival
Collections Portal, which includes the same collections in CLIO with the
exception of the Barnard Archives and Oral History collections, and which provides
links to online finding aids, and the ability to browse the collections by name
and subject headings.
