HOW TO PLACE A DOCUMENT DELIVERY REQUEST
All Document Delivery requests must be submitted through a faculty member's Interlibrary Loan account using the “Article” and “Book Chapter” request forms. Document Delivery does not support proxy borrowing, so the faculty member must place the request through his/her own ILL account.
- In CLIO, the Columbia Libraries catalog, locate the book or journal from which you need a copy.
- Log in to your ILL account by going to the main Interlibrary Loan page and select “Morningside/Barnard/Union Theological Seminary.” You can log in to ILL while in a CLIO record by selecting "ILL/Document Delivery" under "Actions."
- If you have not used ILL before, fill out the registration form. Select patron status "Faculty."
- Under “New Request,” select “Article” or “Book Chapter.”
- Fill out the request form completely. Note: For Document Delivery, you must include the Butler Library call number and location (e.g., Butler Stacks, Milstein, Butler Reference) in the Call Number and Location fields on the request form.
- Click the copyright acknowledgment.
- Submit the request. Make a note of the transaction number (TN). You will need this to track the progress of the request and for any additional follow-up.
Your requested item will be delivered electronically to your ILL account within 2-3 business days from time of request. You will receive an email notifying you when the item is available.
