Purpose and Program Description
The Libraries seek to support research in all aspects of
humanities and social sciences related to Japanese, Chinese and
Korean studies in Japan. It supports the needs of undergraduate,
graduate, and Ph.D. students, the teaching faculty, post-docs,
and research staff members.
During the first half of the 1990’s, there was a drastic
increase of undergraduate users of our collection.
New courses recently introduced include: New trends in the
field in the past several years are researches and topics of
papers written by all levels of students and faculty members done
in interdisciplinary subject areas from which materials
weren’t collected by our library in the past.
Areas of established specialization are Buddhism, Japanese
literature, history and art history, which are stronger than
other fields, although they need strengthening as well as other
areas, social sciences in particular.
