Question:

Is my spouse or domestic partner able to use Columbia's libraries?

Answer:

Spouses and domestic partners of students, faculty, and staff may use Columbia's libraries.

  • Spouses or domestic partners of Columbia University faculty, or officers of administration can also borrow materials, and will be issued a borrower’s card that expires in five years.

  • Spouses or domestic partners of students and non-officer staff cannot borrow materials, and will be issued a reader’s card that expires in five years, or at the students expected date of graduation.

Spouses or domestic partners must provide proof of marriage or domestic partnership. Both parties must show up with proper government or state issued photo ID.

There is a $20 charge for borrower's cards and reader's cards. Payments may be made by Visa, Mastercard, personal check or money order. The Library Information Office does not accept cash as a form of payment.
