Question:

What is JSTOR? How do I find an article in JSTOR? Are current articles available in JSTOR?

Answer:

JSTOR (Scholarly Journal Archive) is an online archive of core scholarly journals in a wide variety of disciplines. It provides full text articles in back issues of journals from the earliest issues to within a few years of current publication. Users may browse by journal title or discipline, or may search the full-text or citations/abstracts. New issues of existing titles and new titles are added on an ongoing basis.

Please note that the current volume of a journal is NOT available on JSTOR; the latest volume available on JSTOR is usually 3-5 years old.

JSTOR and thousands of other article databases are available to current students, faculty, and staff with a valid Columbia University Network ID (UNI) and to users onsite.

JSTOR offers online tutorials on how to find articles and search the database.

The Libraries offer workshops that cover JSTOR, too. You can also get research help from a librarian, Ask Us!
