Access to New York University Libraries

New York University Libraries and Columbia have a Cooperative Agreement to share library resources through reciprocal on-site access.

To obtain access to the New York University Libraries,
eligible members of Columbia University must register by
presenting their valid CUID card at the
Access Office of the New York University library to
which they are requesting access. Members of Columbia
University who are eligible for these reciprocal access
privileges are the students, faculty and staff of
Columbia University and of the Columbia affiliates:
Barnard College, Teachers College, and Union Theological
Seminary.

The reciprocal agreement between New York University and Columbia is for access only. Borrowing privileges are not included.
There are access restrictions for the following four libraries at New York University.
- Courant Institute Library access is limited to Columbia Math and Physics graduate students and faculty.
- Institute of Fine Arts Library access is limited to Columbia Art graduate students and faculty. Columbia students, faculty, or staff may be given a referral to the Fine Arts Library by a Columbia librarian when the item sought is held only at the Fine Arts Library.
- Law School Library access is limited to Columbia Law School faculty and students.
- Medical and Dental School Libraries access is limited to Columbia Medical and Dental faculty.
New York University has five affiliate libraries that are not covered by this agreement. They are the Cooper Union, the Mannes School of Music, the New School University, the New York Academy of Art, and the Parsons School of Design libraries.
