Access to Columbia University Libraries by New York University
Columbia and New York University Libraries have a Cooperative Agreement to share library resources through reciprocal on-site access.
Eligible New York University affiliates are current full-time undergraduate and graduate students, staff, full-time faculty, and part-time faculty covered by the NYU/Columbia Consortial agreement.
To obtain access to the Columbia University Libraries, an eligible New York University student, faculty, or staff member must present his or her valid NYU identification card at the Library Information Office. The Access Card is valid for the Columbia semester during which it is issued. Please verify the hours of the Library Information Office before planning your visit.
Staff in the Library Information Office will issue a reader's card.
The Columbia Libraries Access Card does not include borrowing privileges. Certain CD-ROM and on-line databases, for which there is a heavy demand by Columbia's primary user group of students, faculty and staff, are not available for use by others.
There are access restrictions for the following three libraries at Columbia University:
- Avery Architectural and Fine Arts Library access is limited to New York University Art graduate students and faculty. New York University students, faculty, or staff may be given a referral to Avery by an New York University librarian when the item sought is held only by Avery.
- Health Sciences Library access is limited to New York University Medical and Dental faculty.
- Law Library access is limited to New York University Law School faculty and students.
