Who We Are
The Columbia Masters Swim Club is a voluntary club sport open to anyone
who has access to the Dodge
Fitness Center at Columbia University. Members swim for fitness,
fun and competition. Columbia Masters is a member of the Metropolitan Local Masters
Swim Committee (LMSC) under the aegis of United States Masters Swimming (USMS).
Club Constitution:
Masters swimming doesn't mean that you've mastered swimming. It just
means that you like it.
Club By-Laws:
Fees and Dues
1) All swimmers must pay dues in full every semester.
2) Prospective team members may try out the team for two practices at
no charge.
3) Any costs incurred by team members in meets are individual expenses
and not covered by team dues.
Conduct
1) No personal attacks will be tolerated
2) Lane conduct (circle, split, start intervals) should be decided collectively
by those sharing the lane
3) Encourage swimmers who are having good days. Encourage swimmers more
who are having bad ones.
Generally Good
Ideas
1) See your weaknesses (starts, butterfly, etc.) as opportunities.
2) Meets are fun no matter how slow you are.
3) Goggles are great. Swimming suits are even better.
