Parkinsons Models

Ellen and Brians chapter “Parkinsons Disease: Insights from Invertebrates” has been published in ‘Parkinson's Disease: Pathogenic and Therapeutic Insights from Toxin and Genetic Models’ , edited by Richard Nass and Serge Przedborski. We begin with a stanza from Marco Girolamo Vidas didactic poem ‘De Bombyce’ or ‘The Silk-worm’ published in 1519 which puts forth the case for invertebrate disease models

For you, ye little Race, the impartial Powers
Subject to Chances, and to Pains like ours,
Misfortunes shock you, and Disorders maim,
And dire Diseases rack your tender Frame.
