CNC Dedication Ceremony

Designtronics, Inc., donated a significant amount towards the purchase of three CNC machines for the Department’s instructional laboratory. The new machines are a valuable addition to the Department at a time when student enrollment has increased.The new equipment was dedicated in a ceremony on November 15, 2006.
Dr. Frank Buchsbaum, MS’55, Eng.ScD.’67’,the
Executive Vice President of Designtronics, Dr. Hitoshi Tanaka, BS’63,
MS’67, Eng.ScD.’76, Senior Vice President of the same company, and Dr.
George Klein, President of the Techno Division of Designtronics
attended the ceremony.Drs. Buchsbaum and Tanaka are
graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Department and have kept strong
ties with the Department. Prior to joining Desingtronics, Inc., Dr.
Klein was a faculty member in Columbia Mechanical Engineering. Dean
Galil and Dean Friedman also attended the ceremony. Dean Galil thanked
for their support on behalf of the Engineering School. Professor Larry
Yao, Chairman of the ME Department also expressed his heartfelt
gratitude and presented each guest with a gift as a token of
appreciation.
