Professor Ateshian Elected ASME Fellow

Professor Gerard Ateshain was elected Fellow of ASME in February 2007. He is also Chair of the Bioengineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers since July 1, 2006.
In the past year, he has given seminar presentations on the application of mixture theory to biological tissues at the City College of the City University of New York (September 2006), Duke University (October 2006), the University of Minnesota (November 2006), and the University of Michigan (Febrary 2007). He published a News & Views article in the Febraury 2007 issue of Nature Materials, titled "Artificial Cartilage: Weaving in three dimensions."
