Professors Hone and Wong are part of the DOE Photovoltaic Center

05/26/2009

The U.S. Department of Energy awarded three Columbia scientists a $15 million grant to fund a proposal to establish a research center at Columbia to make photovoltaic technology more efficient. The proposal is co-directed by Electrical Engineering Senior Research Scientist James Yardly, Tony Heinz, professor of Electrical Engineering and Physics, and Louis Brus, Professor of Chemistry. The program builds on the significant success of the NSF-sponsored Columbia Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center (NSEC), of which Professor Hone is part. It also draws significant strength from the Columbia Center for Integrated Science & Engineering (CISE), of which Prof. Wong is part.
