First Dynamic Test of Formula SAE Race Car

The Formula SAE designs and builds a race car for a major competition in Michigan during the month of May.

On November 12, 2005, we ran our first dynamic test on our race car. The car was tested at Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J., during an SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) event. We had four successful runs that enabled us to learn from our designs, both good and bad. We also gathered advice from many experienced racers. Their comments about some aspects of the race car will help us target some of our changes.

For the next semester we plan on fixing some minor technical issues which will increase the safety for all drivers. Once this is completed, testing will resume and we will be ready to compete in May.
