ME Alumna, Ursula Burns MS’82, Heads Xerox

Ursula Burns MS’82 joined Xerox in 1980 as a mechanical engineer summer intern. According to the company, Burns will succeed the current CEO, Anne M. Mulcahy, upon her retirement on July 1st. Burns received her MS in mechanical engineering from SEAS in 1982. From 1992 through 2000, Burns led business teams, including the office color and fax business and office network printing business. In 2000, she was named senior vice president of Corporate Strategic Services and took the helm of Xerox’s global research, product development, marketing and delivery. In 2007 she expanded her leadership to include the company’s IT, corporate strategy, human resources, corporate marketing and global accounts.
