The Big Read: Columbia University celebrates the works of Egyptian author and Nobel Prize winner Naguib MahfouzSummer program for High School students in NY and Amman, Jordan New Museum, 235 Bowery (at Prince Street) 2/11/09 - 3/22/09 In this extraordinary project by Turner-prize winning artist Jeremy Deller, a revolving cast of participants including veterans, journalists, scholars, and Iraqi nationals have been invited to take up residence in the New Museum’s gallery space with the express purpose of encouraging discussion with visitors to the Museum. The Museum is thrilled to be presenting this work and fostering conversation about the present circumstances in Iraq. A number of Columbia students and a faculty member are serving as guest experts for this projects and will be at the Museum (see schedule below).
