Nehama R. Bersohn holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University (1976). Her major field was Hebrew language and literature, and her minor was Jewish history. She taught Hebrew language and literature at Princeton University (1972 to 1984) and was a consultant to the Educational Testing Service on Hebrew placement examinations (1977 to 1978). She also taught at the University of Pennsylvania (1985 to 1986). Since 1987 she has been teaching Hebrew language courses at Columbia University.
