CUBAIT '08 Judge Information
The Columbia University Mock Trial program is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its 5th annual Big Apple Invitational on Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Columbia Law School located at 435 West 116th Street. Click here for a map of the Law School (Jerome Greene Hall).
The tournament will be comprised of four rounds with two rounds each day. Twenty-two teams from some of the top universities in the country will be participating, and the winners will be determined by attorneys who preside and/or score the participants. The trials last about two hours. During the trial, the “judges” rule on objections and score the competitors according to their performance. The trials are governed by a slightly modified version of the Federal Rules of Evidence and conducted just as real trials are.
We have also included some optional materials that you may review ahead of the tournament if you wish. Click here to view an online Judge orientation presentation. You can also view the Midlands Rules of Evidence here. NOTE: These materials are provided for your information only, you are not required to read the case packet or the rules of evidence ahead of time.
