Dr. Galil notes that a second advantage of Columbia is that its location in New York City serves as the focal point of business, information, communication, and entertainment. A third advantage is that Columbia is a globally-oriented university that attracts students from all over the world. Dr. Galil is a strong supporter of the Core Curriculum. He said that some of his former students remarked that their most important courses that they took were writing and humanities courses, rather than purely technical courses. He is very familiar with the core because his son is a student in Columbia College.
