Ok. Why is it that the ESC feels the need to blast AcIS at every opportunity? Now, I
don't exactly LOVE everything AcIS does, (Lord only knows why they have music majors
and such working the labs), but I don't see why Dan and the rest of the ESC make AcIS
the scapegoats for everything bad with computing at Columbia. It's not like they rule the
University with an iron hand...they too have a budget believe it or not.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is this: if the ESC has such a problem with AcIS and the
way they handle things, why don't they all turn their ethernet jacks in, have their Columbia
accounts rm'd, get their $15 dollars back, and let them pay whatever per month charge a
regular ISP charges?! That way, Dan and the rest of his cronies can get the "up-to-date"
technology that Columbia lacks from some private vendor. Then we can all be happy and
the ESC can bitch about bigger things than the fact that there isn't a public Solaris server
running on the cluster or some other computer nonsense.
