Steve Cohen on New Administration's Environmental Initiatives

What will President Obama's administration do differently in terms of climate change and the environment? Steve Cohen, Executive Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, joins veteran anchor and foreign correspondent from NBC News and CNN Martin Savidge to discuss the level of commitment President Obama has to the environment and the possibility of one solution to two crises: Climate change and the Economy.

"One of the solutions to the issue of people being out of work," states Cohen, "is to build a green economy and that can help on the issue of climate change." With Obama promising a shift from fossil fuel dependence, Cohen is certain that with the right technology, it should not only be environmentally conscious but economically feasible.

The new administration will be faced with the responsibility to "first set an example, develop the technology, and then provide the technology to other countries."  Once we clean up our act, we can try "to lead by example" the battle against climate change. video graphic
