About the Editors

Peg McCartt Hess, PhD, ACSW, is associate dean, School of Social Work, Columbia University, and faculty affiliate, Center for the Study of Social Work Practice, New York. She previously was on the faculties of the Universities of Indiana, Tennessee, and Alabama schools of social work.

Edward J. Mullen, DSW, is professor, School of Social Work, Columbia University, and director, Center for the Study of Social Work Practice. He is director of the National Institute of Mental Health—funded Mental Health Services Research Doctoral Program at the School of Social Work, Columbia University. He was formerly professor, University of Chicago and Fordham University in New York City, and director, Institute of Social Welfare Research, Community Service Society of New York.
