Yankee's Bernie Williams Works with Youngsters at Columbia-Sponsored Baseball Clinic

Bernie Williams, the Yankees center fielder whose batting average currently leads the American League, worked with youngsters at a baseball clinic on Aug. 31 at Columbia's Baker Field.

At the clinic, which was sponsored by Columbia's Office of Public Affairs, Columbia's Department of Physical Education and Intercollegiate Athletics and Sprint, children ages 6-15 learned baseball fundamentals. Williams also gave a motivational talk about team sports and the importance of a positive attitude.

Among the attendees were 10 youngsters chosen from the Harlem Little League and the Columbia Community Service Baseball League.
