Laurance J. Guido is the new director of University Alumni Relations. He holds two degrees from Columbia, graduating from Columbia College in 1965 and from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1969. He has been a clinical professor of neurosurgery at a number of academic institutions and also conducted a clinical practice until 1994.
He joined the staff of Columbia College in 1996, serving as assistant director of the Columbia College Annual Fund. He has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y., and of the Westover School in Middlebury, Conn. In 1993, he was a member of the President's Task Force on Health Care Reform as a visiting fellow of the Institute for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.
