Columbia and Barnard students are invited to attend the annual Student Lobby Day in Washington D.C. on April 5, 2000. Those interested in joining the trip should sign up by Friday, March 31, 2000.

The trip, which is organized in conjunction with Cornell University, will take students to Washington for a day of meetings with Members of Congress and their staffs. The day also will include a breakfast briefing featuring speakers who are recent Columbia, Barnard and Cornell alumni currently working on Capitol Hill.

The bus will depart from 116th Street & Broadway at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 4 and arrive in Washington around 10:00 pm. The return trip will depart Washington DC at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, April 5, and students should be back in New York around 10:00 pm that day.

All meals, transportation and accommodations are provided.

The trip is an excellent opportunity to support the federal student aid programs, such as Pell Grants and Work-Study, and to learn about the legislative process.
