Columbia University's Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) will host a day-long symposium on the technology gap between rich and developing nations, Fri., Feb. 2, at 8 a.m, Columbia's International Affairs Building, 420 W. 118th St. at Amsterdam, Room 1501.
The conference, "Digital Dilemmas: The Divide in Latin America," brings together business and technology leaders, including the president of Federal Express Latin America; the chief of Information Technology at the Inter-American Development Bank, and the vice president of corporate development at AOL Latin America.
Panels will address Internet access, the relationship between non-governmental organizations and the Internet and e-commerce for Latin American business.
Organizations that will make presentations include: FedEx Latin America, the Inter-American Development Bank, Committee for Democracy in Information Technology, Endeavor Global, the World Bank, eZiba.com, ICANN and Todito.com.
