Milano's, New Deli on Broadway, Replaces Mama Joy's

While some think no deli can match Mama Joy's as the deli du choix in Morningside Heights, the newly established Milano Market, which opened in its place on Feb. 1, has started off on the right foot.

Milano's, on Broadway, opened its doors to crowds of lunch-goers in search of quality, selection and reasonable prices. What they found, in addition to countless sandwich combinations, was a deli stocked from floor to ceiling with more than the Italian essentials. In addition to an array of meats, imported cheeses, homemade soups and salads, the market is also a gourmet grocery store with fresh baked breads delivered daily from nine Manhattan bakeries, a pastry counter stocked with whole cakes, pastries and cookies, a gourmet cheese counter, a fresh fruit stand, and every-day grocery items.

Milano's owner Salvator Garlofaro who has long eyed the Upper West Side as a destination for his sandwich market, offers high quality for a reasonable price. And he has his priorities straight, "We are not here to make money, we are here to make friends," said Garlofaro.

Milano's is open 7 days a week 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Milano's also offers catering services. Telephone: 665-9500.
