Socially Responsible Investing Committee to Hold Dec. 10 Public Hearing

The Advisory Committee on Socially Responsible Investing will hold the second community hearing this fall on Monday, December 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Davis Auditorium of the Schapiro Engineering Building. At this hearing, students, faculty, alumni and staff of Columbia University, and other appropriate individuals, are invited to present their views on the University's ethical and social responsibilities as an investor.

Those who wish to speak during the hearing should forward an e-mail message to the Office of Shareholder Responsibility (shareholder@columbia.edu) specifying his or her University affiliation, if any, and the specific topic(s) that will be addressed. Messages should be received no later than Friday, Dec. 7, at 5:00 p.m.

The University has made available to students, faculty, alumni and staff in Room 532, Interchurch Center (475 Riverside Drive), a listing of the public equity holdings in the University's endowment as of June 30, 2001.

The Advisory Committee on Socially Responsible Investing was established in March 2000 to deliberate upon issues of corporate social responsibility confronting the University as an investor and to advise the University Trustees. The final decisions on these matters rest with the University Trustees. Additional information on this Committee is available on the SRI website.
