Discussions, Films, Theatre Performances Among Highlights of Black Heritage Month

In celebration of Black Heritage Month events ranging from cinema nights to talent and fashion shows are being offered throughout the month of February. Below is a list of upcoming events.

Strange Fruit
Friday, Feb. 15, 9:00 p.m.
Join Alice and the Black Students' Organization in celebrating the art of spoken word. This event is free.
Location: Satow Conference Room, Alfred Lerner Hall

Black Heritage Month Fireside Chat: Women of Color and Women of African Descent
Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7:00 p.m.
Join the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta and Programs at Earl Hall for a discussion about the status of women of color and women of African descent today. Find out the issues that Women of Color and Women of African Descent face on a daily basis. This event is free, and seating is limited.

Cinema Night
Thursday, Feb. 21, 8:00 p.m.
Take time out to enjoy "Rosewood". Light refreshments will be served. This event is free.

Lion's Den
Friday, Feb. 22, 8:00 p.m.
Enjoy a talent show highlighting the various talent on Columbia's campus as well as off campus talent. This event is free.

Black Theatre Ensemble
Saturday, Feb. 23, 3:00 p.m.
Join the Black Theatre Ensemble as they showcase their ensemble created production.

BOSS Fashion Show
Saturday, Feb. 23, 7:00 p.m.
Join the Black Organization of Soul Sisters as they present the hottest of urban and evening wear fashions.
Location: Roone Arledge Auditorium, Alfred Lerner Hall

Black Theatre Ensemble
Sunday, Feb. 24, 2:00 and 8:00 p.m.
Join the Black Theatre Ensemble for their repeat performances of their ensemble created production.

Black Heritage Month Closing Ceremonies
Thursday, Feb. 28, 7:00 p.m.
Celebrate the close of Black Heritage Month with Keynote Speaker Carl McCall. This event is free.
